The Back Side Opens Up: A Better Line for Holes 6–8

Open left side beside the green on the back side of Mountain Step Ranch Golf Club

COURSE UPDATE — MSRGC

The left side by the green on the back side of Mountain Step Ranch GC has opened up, creating a cleaner and more playable line through holes 6, 7, and 8.

It is a small change with a big effect. Hole 6 is still the course’s toughest test, but the new opening gives players more room to work with as they move toward the green. The improvement continues into holes 7 and 8, where the back-side stretch now feels more open, more visible, and easier to navigate without losing its challenge.

The course is also investing in Pennington Smart Seed Perennial Rye Grass Seed Plus Fertilizer for the back side. Matching seed is ready for the front side as well—although the front-side grass is already pristine—so the whole course can keep a consistent look as the back side comes in.

Next on the improvement list: every tee box will be redone except Hole 3, giving the course a cleaner, more consistent starting point on nearly every hole.

The private course is still very much part of the ranch—the deer clearly got the memo—but this is a meaningful playability upgrade for anyone taking on the closing run.
